Monthly Poem and Pictograph in EL, [curious fish] - July 2005 -

. . . .

This is an EL (Earth Language) experimental page to enjoy
the image of a haiku/short poem originally in English/Japanese.
When you can't see the Japanese parts, please don't mind and just skip those parts.
地球語の文字や文字絵を用いて詩的表現や翻訳を試みる実験のページです。

I felt momentary coolness and smiled through this haiku,
imagining its scene as at the corner of the street, not in the water.
I found this haiku by Ph. D. Zoran Mimica in Vienna at "General Haiku zatsuei"
in World Haiku Review Volume 4 - 2004, Haiku: Editor's Choice by Susumu Takiguchi
You can learn and enjoy haiku much through this World Haiku Club site.

今月は、 ワールド俳句レビュー-4-2004(滝口進選)の 一般俳句雑詠からいただきました。
英語俳句を詠んでみたい方にはお訪ねになることをお勧めします。
Zoran Mimica さんのこの俳句、私はなぜか、水の中じゃなく、
街角のイメージとして浮かんで、一瞬の涼しさを味わいました。
(和訳が難しいです。どうぞ英語・地球語と合わせてお読みください。)

Original English by Zoran Mimica:
curious fish
swim towards
my legs

Japanese: わが脚に奇妙魚の泳ぎ寄る

EL translation:

Symbols in the pictograph:
: fish,  {move, vessel}: car,  :tree, : I/my/me, : leg(s),

Symbols in the EL translation:
{ heart,heading to, much}: much interested/curious (興味深い)
{ ,, }(picture-like ideogram): fish (魚)
(with the verb symbol): swim (become/do like a fish's doing)(魚、動詞符を伴うと「泳ぐ」)
For this verb, other expressions could be available,
but I visually liked this way with continuous fish shapes and shapes heading to .
{   to form prepositions, heading to}: to/toward (~へ、~に向かって)
{ to form pronouns, back} (pointing one's own chest in this sign):
I/my/me (depending on the relation in a sentence)(私)
{ power,}(picture-like ideogram): leg(s)(脚)

Thanks Mr. Takiguchi and Mr. Mimica for your kind permissions and notes.
