In San Francisco February with shiny green shoots,
I imagine people who are still fighting against snow, waiting for a sign of Spring.
Earth Language (EL) is also under snow,
but has continued to swell quietly for one and a half decades.
For this month, let me explain the concept of EL,
the new auxiliary communication method in the global world, with an EL pictograph.
You can know why it must have evolved differently from the traditional language systems
such as English/Esperanto. The concrete EL system by me is an example to make it real.

「地球語」もまだずっと雪の下に埋もれたままですが、
十数年間静かにふくらみつづけてきました。
そこで今月は｢地球語｣のコンセプトについて絵解かせてください。
グローバル社会を補助する新しい伝達手段は、
英語やエスペラントとは階層がことなる
進化した言語でなければならないことを説いています。
わたしが建設中の具体案は､そんな言語が実現可能なことを示す例です。

Language was born when it transferred a flow of images
and one’s will between people.
You draw an apple, point and shout “wow.”
These individual actions won’t transmit
what you want to express, but when these three flow together,
this becomes communicable such as “There are some apples, let’s go!”
Even gorillas do such expressions by connecting sounds and gestures.
It is very possible this kind of initial language
existed in the human society from the beginning.
The first evolution of language structure
must have been expressing new things
by compounding from limited signs.
They also expressed specific existence,
names and abstract things
by structuring signs of sounds and forms.
It’s supposed that there was this kind of evolution
at least several thousands years ago
through inscribed signs and legends
about counting strings in many places.
By this way, greater volume could be informed
without excessively increasing basic signs.
Since they are formed in the limited phonemes,
rhythm is also born in speech.
It is natural for the brain,
which functions by linking memories,
to arrange the words and its structures
into simple elements and its combinations.
However, languages on the earth diversified
and became unable to understand each other
as they evolved in each region bearing each history/culture
of its climates and people. (Refer to 0103)
Then the technology opened the door of the era
that everyone on the earth,
whether wanting it or not, influences each other,
and now the whole world is in panic.
...Trying to keep relation using the languages
of the stronger country between.
Nature evolved the structures,
when there became too many elements.
It evolved by simplifying units,
accepting the complexity by widely connecting them
to diversify the possibilities.
For instance, hormone – the chemistry substance
that delivers a signal from neuron to neurons
has been simplified the structure
with life’s complication/evolution,
revolutionary increasing its working domain.
Because of this, humans have various joys
and sensitivities as well as the ability to adjust
its movement and relations finely. (Refer to 1202 )
A traditional language has polished
the people’s sensibility and thoughts
according to the regional climates,
and has supported the adjustment
and expansion of its society.
It holds peculiar lore by/for just the region,
however, they are not made for the entire world.
Let’s compare the present global society
to a human body.
Within this body,
different hormones work in each part,
and they don’t correspond directly.
There is hormone trying to send signals
to move the body forward to see things more.
Another hormone hastens to work
to move the body to the left,
catching an alarm sound from the right.
The brain cannot arrange information very well.
The body wastes energy vainly and accumulates stress.
Sometimes it hurts itself trying to cut out the part
where is presumed to be a cause of disease.
The Internet is likened to
the myelinated (covered) neuron system
to speed up signal transferring in a neuron.
At each connection part of hormone domains,
hormone conversion drugs (translation machines)
are going to be installed in each different form.
They extend the difference of transmission speeds
between body parts,
bringing the side effects
of accelerating the speed of information twist.
Was there any time that the whole body, this planet,
and humans craved for normal activity
and relaxation this much?
The global society cannot be healthier
in such a hormone state.
For the health of the highly civilized society
surrounded myelinated neurons,
it needs a new hormone that is as simple as dopamine
and that connects widely and naturally
to bring whole harmony.
The current nature always lives
containing the histories from the origin. (Refer to 1002)
Evolved human structure still contains
the old memories of the shellfish and reptiles.
The new language that evolves
to connect the world like dopamine
– we call it Earth Language from now on,
will also be filled with wisdoms
of all the language of the past.
It is not to replace the traditional language,
but to help each of them grow without damaging,
to assist things for what they cannot,
and to work together to connect the whole.
Traditional languages don’t get through
in the broader world.
It’s because they are rooted to the lives
and cultures of the certain regions.
So if a traditional language oppresses the other,
friction occurs.
For example, assigning a word for god
from other culture causes a sense of incongruity
for people who have a long religious tradition.
The new language that embraces the world
of full confrontations needs
the following to be established;
1) The base is upon the primitive nature,
2) Computerization and its application
can be developed naturally with it.
Also it must allow free expressions,
with little minding pronunciations and grammatical order.
Above 1) is to set the base to the element
that all the humans commonly recognize
within the earth nature,
but not to standardize a specific culture.
For instance, the cultural produce,
god is easily misunderstood by the translation,
so the sign of god is not used as a basis of the thoughts.
Collect the signs from the basic elements
that can be commonly understood such as existence,
nature, origin, absolute, etc,
and construct a sign that fits the image of your god.
Readers read it by her/his mother tongue
according to the contents.
Readers cannot be unconscious of the difference
in foundation from the sender
when s/he feels the gap between his/her language
and the sign.
By feeling the image gap directly,
understanding progresses beyond the culture.
Such a structure can be a mirror
to re-question ourselves from the primeval point of view.
1) also means connecting various sympathy elements,
such as notations like simplified pictures, arrows,
actions operations, and pointing hand signs, etc.
Such symbols are not only easy to memorize for children,
but also let adults to look back the primitive nature,
and support them not to lose the collective image
of the whole world.
You might think that this foundation
seems to be too complicated,
since having various methods of communication
spontaneously depending on vision, hearing,
tactile sense and movements, etc.,
seeing from the present conception
where people learn letters, a sign language,
and Braille respectively.
However, human brains memorize things
in connection to other parts of the body.
Therefore, the language that involves many clues
from the beginning is, in fact, easy for the brain
and can coexist with the mother tongue naturally.
If it becomes wide spread,
differences of races or hearing/vision handicaps
will not be an issue, and everyone will be accepted
to the circle of open exchange.
Not only transmitting the meanings
but it is also desirable to communicate
the sound properly between cultures.
Everyone wants their names pronounced correctly
and someone wants to learn
secret points of pronunciations of foreign languages.
Earth Language needs the phonetics too.
It is wanted to instruct how to reproduce sounds,
not only linguistic sounds,
but also unusual sounds like clicks and whistles,
to foster new vocal arts.
You might think that such a system needs
hundreds of ideographs and phonetics,
and would be impossible to memorize all.
Here comes 2) device.
Learning from the evolution of hormones,
the bases must be each simplified
and reduced the amount.
It would be good to limit up to the amount
of notations used in a regular computer keyboard.
Just by compounding them,
the system clearly distinguishes things in many ways,
and fully supports new expressions
and arrangements of information.
Evolved EL must be like that.
In a traditional language,
a new word usually is made
after a fact of event/discovery/invention.
But by such EL,
new concepts are accidentally put together,
and can stimulate real discoveries/inventions.
Humans know yet just a little of nature.
It is also an important job for EL to be a kind tool
for opening a new path in an unknown field.
Freely networking symbols hide possibilities
of a new joyful discovery today and tomorrow.
At the same time,
the root is always reached to the origin.
Rearranging information in such a manner,
EL makes people easier
to view from the origin to the future.
If it is that convenient,
will diffusion of EL drive traditional languages out?
No, it will never happen.
All handle EL with each mother language,
so as EL grows, mother languages should grow as well.
Maybe mother languages grow more beautifully
with the mirror of EL to look at themselves
objectively in the daily job.
Anyway, it is the responsibility
of successors of traditions.
A traditional language holds wisdoms
and peculiar senses raised and survived
by only certain region.
People’s musical senses of pitch and rhythm
are also touches to each mother tongue.
The global society is colorful
and fun because of these varieties.
When emotional atmospheres of Mother tongue
and objectivity of Father language (EL)
are woven together,
the world would be fragrantly connected.
Traditions have been polished by past people’s will.
It loses its glow without being polished.
A traditional language and an individual person
need to be polished.
The new hormone of joy in the global world
is going to help it
and equally to invite their direct connections
into the entire net for health.
The new hormone of joy of the earth
is Earth Language.
It is going to release the body of the global society
from unnatural stress/strain to bring a bright harmony.

Japanese進化言語
言語は、イメージの流れや意志を
人から人へ仲介できたときに誕生したといえるだろう。
りんごの絵を描く、指差す、「オオ」と叫ぶ。
これらのひとつだけでは、いいたい意志は伝わらないが、
三つが流れると、「あそこにりんごがなってるぞ、行こう！」と伝わる。
声や身振りをつなぐ意思表示はゴリラでもするそうなので、
ヒト社会ではこんな初期言語は最初からあっただろう。
言語のしくみの最初の進化は、
新しいものごとを限られた記号の連結として表したことだろう。
音声または形の記号を組んで、特定の存在・名前や抽象的なことがらも表現した。
少なくとも数千年前にこの進化があったことは、
各地の刻み記号や結縄のしくみからわかる。
この方法なら、基礎記号は少なくても多くを伝えられる。
限られた音韻で構成されるので、ことばにリズムも生まれる。
記憶をネットして働かす脳がことばや文字のしくみを
単純な要素とその合成に情報整理するのは自然なことだ。
ところが地域ごとに進化し、風土・文化を包みながら発達したので、
地球上の言語は多種多様になり、互いに通じなくなった。（0103参照）
そこへ科学技術によって地球上が否応なく影響し合う時代が開かれ、
世界中があわてふためいている。
関係する間で力の強いほうの国の言語を介しながら、とりあえずつながろうとして。
自然の発達は、要素が多数化し膨れ上がったとき、しくみを進化させた。
単位を単純化し、それらをひろくつなぐしくみによって複雑さを受け入れ、
可能性を多様化して「進化」させた。
たとえば神経線維の間で信号をつなぐ化学物質：ホルモンは、
生命の複雑化・進化とともに構造を単純化しながら、
はたらく領域を画期的にひろげた。
おかげでヒトは、多様な喜びとこまやかな感性、
そして運動や関係を微調整する能力をもつ。（1202参照）
伝統言語は、人々の感性や思考を「地域風土」にあわせて磨いて、
その社会の調整や拡大を支えてきた。
それらは、地域ならではの知恵を包んでいるが、
どれも地球全体社会のためにはできていない。
今の地球社会を人体にたとえると、
部分ごとに異なるホルモンが体内情報を伝えていて互いに「じかに」連絡しない。
もっと見るために体を前に動かそうとつなぐホルモンがあるかとおもえば、
右手に危険音を捉えて左へ逃げる動きにつなぐのもある。
脳内で情報整理がうまくできない。
体はじたばたと無駄にエネルギーを浪費し、ストレスをためる。
病原はここだ！とメスをいれ、自らを傷つけることもある。
インターネットは、さやを被せて神経線維内の伝達を高速化することに相当する。
部分から部分へのつなぎ目には、翻訳機という、
場所ごとに異なるホルモン転換薬物が補填されようとしている。
それらは、部分間で伝わる速さの差をひろげ、
情報ねじれの高速化という副作用を伴う。
体全体の正常な活動とリラックスを、これほど渇望した時代があっただろうか。
地球社会の健康は、こんなホルモン状態ではありえない。
有髄神経が張りめぐらされ、高度文明化した地球の身体の健康には、
ドーパミンのように単純で、ひろく全体を調和させるホルモンが要る。
自然の「今」は、常に原始からの歴史をすっぽり包んで生きている。（1002参照）
進化したヒトのしくみの中にも、貝や爬虫類だった昔の記憶がひそんでいる。
地球社会をつなぐために進化する、ドーパミンのような言語（以後｢地球語｣と呼ぶ）も、
過去のすべての言語の知恵をすっぽりと包むもののはずだ。
伝統言語と置き換わるのではなく、どこのことばも壊すことなく
育つのを助け、できないことを補佐しながら共に働いて全体をつなぐもののはずだ。
伝統言語が広い世界で通じ合わないのは、
特定地域の暮らし・文化に根ざしているからだ。
だから伝統言語のひとつが他を圧迫すると、摩擦が起きる。
たとえば｢神｣に対し異文化のことばを当てるのは、
永い伝統の中で信仰してきた民にとっては違和感の塊を呑むようなものだ。
東西南北で対立しあう地球社会をやさしく包んで支える新言語は、
１）基礎は原始自然にしっかりと根ざす、
２）コンピュータ化と応用が自然展開し、発音や語順に縛られることなく、
自由な表現で伝わるしくみ、
の２本脚がなければ立ち上がれない。
１）は、特定文化を尺度にせず、地球自然のなかで
ヒトが共通に認識する要素に基礎を定めることだ。
たとえば、
翻訳による誤解を招きやすい｢神｣という文化の産物は、
考えの基とする記号には当てない。
存在・自然・源・絶対・・のように共通に理解できる基礎要素の
中から記号を集めてイメージに合う「神」の記号を組みあげる。
読み手は、内容に応じた母語で読む。
母語の意味と記号にずれを感じるとき、読み手は送り手との
基盤のちがいを意識しないではいられない。
イメージの「違いをじかに感じあうこと」により、文化を超えて理解がすすむ。
こんなしくみは、原始からの視点で自分を問いなおす鏡ともなる。
１）はまた、単純化した絵のような記号・矢印・動作や指差しなど
多様な共感要素を基礎記号に結ぶことも意味する。
こんな記号は、こどもにもおぼえやすく、
大人を原始に帰らせ、世界の全体像を見失わないよう支える。
視覚・聴覚・触覚・動きなどに頼る多様な伝達手段が
自然にからむこの基礎は、文字・手話・点字をそれぞれ別に学ぶ
現在の観念からすると複雑にみえるかもしれない。
だがヒトの脳は体の部分の複雑なからまりで記憶する。
だから最初から多手段がからむ言語は、
実は脳にやさしく、自然に母語と共存できる。
普及すれば、民族のちがいも耳目の障害の有無も問わず、
同じ自由な交流の輪に並ぶ。
意味の伝達だけでなく、音声も国際間でまともに伝え合いたい。
誰もみな名前を正しく呼んでほしい。
外国語の発音の秘訣も知りたい。
地球語にも表音記号は必要だ。
それは、言語上の音声だけでなく、舌打ち音や口笛、
ふだんは使わない音声も再現できるようでありたい。
これを使って新しい音のアートも育つように。
こんなしくみでは、表意・表音に山の記号を要し憶えるのは不可能？
そこが、２）の工夫。
ホルモンの進化から学ぶと、単位記号は単純、減量するのが決まり。
ふつうのキーボード程度の記号数に押さえたい。
それらを組むだけで、多様に区別し、新しい表現の追求と
情報整理を限りなく支えてゆける地球語であってほしい。
伝統言語では、新語はふつう新事実や発明によって生まれる。
けれど上記のしくみの地球語なら、偶然つないだコンセプトから
実際の発明発見がうながされたりもするだろう。
ヒトはまだ、自然のほんの一部しか知らないのだから、
未知への開拓に親切なことも地球語にとっては大切。
自由にネットする記号は、今日も明日も新しい喜び発見の可能性を秘める。
同時に根はいつも原始に届く。
そんな姿勢で情報整頓をし、原始から未来までを見やすくする。
こんなに便利なら、地球語の普及は伝統語を駆逐する？
それはない。母語でこれを扱うので、
地球語が育つにつれ、母語も育たねばならない。
日々地球語という客観の鏡で照らしていると、
野放図でいるよりも、 より美しく母語は育つかもしれない。
ともあれそれは、伝統の継承者の責任だ。
伝統言語は、時代を越えて生き延びた
その地域ならではの知恵や繊細な感覚を包んでいる。
音感やリズム感覚も、母語に密着する。
それらがさまざまなので地球はカラフルで楽しい。
地上の進化生物が原始生物と助け合って共生するとき、
全体が美しく存続できるように、言語もまた
母のことばの情緒と父の言語（地球語）の客観が互いに織りあってこそ、
世界は香り高くつながる。
伝統ことばも個人も磨いて輝くよう手伝いながら、
全体をじかに対等につなぐのが地球社会の新しい喜びのホルモン：地球語だ。
地球社会という身体を無理な力みから開放し、
調和の輝きを放たせようとしている。
